Weedon Island Preserve is a 3,700-acre preserve located on the northwest shores of Old Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida. Owned by the State of Florida, and managed by the County through a lease agreement, Weedon Island Preserve encompasses over 10 natural communities, several historic sites and various passive recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, hiking, and picnicking. Over 1,980 acres of tidal-influenced aquatic lands and mangrove islands surround the Preserve. Several protected bays, including Riviera Bay and Papy's Bayou, provide quiet waters for recreational paddlers. The Preserve's South Paddling Trail, a 4-mile loop trail, begins at the Preserve's fishing pier and is easily accessible from Riviera Bay.
