REPAIR OF COLLAPSED STORM SEWER SYSTEM - VENABLE STREET AND FOURTH STREET

The affected storm sewer system is an approximately 75-year-old boxed storm sewer system that varies in size and configuration throughout various sections and serves as a major component of the Town's stormwater conveyance infrastructure. The portion of the system under the Town's responsibility begins at the intersection of Madison Street and Venable Street. It extends north along the west side of Venable Street for approximately 200 feet before crossing to the east side of Venable Street. The system then continues through the First Bank parking lot, crosses Main Street, and discharges into a concrete channel located behind First Baptist Church. The concrete channel continues beneath 4th Street, turns southeast, and ultimately outfalls into Gross Creek. The storm sewer system has experienced structural failures, including a known collapsed section requiring repair. During inspections of the system, additional sections were identified as exhibiting signs of deterioration, structural deficiencies, and other conditions that may impact the long-term performance, safety, and reliability of the stormwater conveyance system. The Town intends to address the collapsed section and other identified areas of concern through this project to restore the structural integrity, hydraulic capacity, and overall functionality of the storm sewer system. The selected Contractor shall perform the necessary repair, rehabilitation, and replacement work required to return the affected infrastructure to a safe, functional, and reliable condition while minimizing impacts on the public, adjacent properties, and existing utilities.
