Full Description

The San Joaquin River Multi-Benefit Project consists of rehabilitating the existing levee between Stations 330+00 and 368+00 on Sherman Island to meet the Delta-Specific PL 84-99 Standard. Prior to construction of the levee improvements, existing power poles and associated overhead utility lines within the project area will be relocated outside the project area. The project includes removing the existing Sacramento County road, placing compacted embankment to raise the levee crown and achieve the required freeboard above the 100-year flood elevation, constructing a landside levee toe berm to stabilize the levee slope, constructing a new County road, and establishing approximately 1 acre of hedgerow habitat consisting of riparian forest and scrub-shrub vegetation on the landside toe berm. Plantings will be monitored and maintained to ensure success criteria are met.
