SLVWD Pasatiempo Wells 7 & 8 Rehabilitation

The San Lorenzo Valley Water District is undertaking the rehabilitation of two groundwater wells, Paso 7 and Paso 8, located at 3650 Graham Hill Rd, Felton, California. The project aims to restore well efficiency and ensure reliable water production for over 3,000 residents in the City of Scotts Valley and surrounding unincorporated areas, as Paso 7 is currently under-producing and Paso 8 is completely inoperable. The scope of work includes the removal of well pumps, pre- and post-rehabilitation video inspections, mechanical cleaning of well screens, chemical acid washing, post-treatment cleaning, disinfection, and test pumping. To facilitate these activities, a temporary 2,600-foot above-ground pipeline will be installed to convey treated and tested water to the Hanson Quarry drainage pond in compliance with applicable regulations. The project is classified under NAICS code 237990 and is managed by Environmental Programs Manager Chris Klier. It has been certified as exempt from further environmental review under CEQA Guidelines Section 15301(d) and Section 15269(b), as the work involves the rehabilitation of existing facilities necessary for public health and safety without expanding the scope of the wells. The primary objective is to extend the useful life of the infrastructure and meet essential public health and safety standards through improved operational efficiency.
