Stream Maintenance Program

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-SON-62451-R3 with the Sonoma County Water Agency pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602. This Stream Maintenance Program is designed to perform routine maintenance activities across various streams, lakes, on-stream reservoirs, and unnamed tributaries throughout Sonoma County, California. The primary objective of the program is to maintain the capacity of these water bodies to ensure effective flood risk reduction. Authorized activities include sediment management within engineered stream channels, lakes, on-stream reservoirs, and engineered structures such as culverts and diversion facilities. The scope also encompasses bank stabilization in engineered areas and the maintenance of infrastructure including v-ditches, drop-inlets, culverts, and reservoir inlet structures. Additionally, the program allows for vegetation management in engineered, modified, and natural channels, though work in natural and modified channels is limited to targeted vegetation and debris removal. A Notice of Determination has confirmed that the project will not have a significant effect on the environment, provided that the adopted mitigation measures and monitoring plan are followed.
