Town of Brookline Invitation to Bid - Winter Sand 2026-2027 Season

Bids are being solicited for winter sand for application to the public roads in the Town of Brookline, VT. The approved vendor will agree to deliver the sand to the town’s sand shed as needed during the winter season within 7 days of it being requested. The vendor will be responsible to mix the sand with the road salt (from the Town’s salt shed) as directed by the Brookline Highway Supervisor as it goes into the shed bay. A sample of the material (approximately 1 quart sized container) must be submitted for assessment and evaluation by the town’s road supervisor along with the bid. The bid must clearly state the delivered cost per yard of material. The Town of Brookline reserves the right to inspect all sand deliveries and will reject any material that does not meet the standards set when the bid was accepted. Other Requirements: • Vendors will need to comply with the town’s request for completed paperwork if awarded the bid. • Prior to starting work, the selected bidder will be required to provide a Certificate of Insurance demonstrating coverage with a total combined general liability policy limit of at least $2,000,000 per occurrence and $4,000,000 aggregate. • The successful bidder will carry Worker’s Compensation insurance in accordance with the laws of the State of Vermont. The Selectboard will consider accepting a two year contract for winter road sand from vendors. Both one and two year bids will be accepted with the second year bid price clearly indicated. Sealed bids will be opened at about 7 PM on October 7, 2026, during a regular Selectboard meeting. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept the bid it deems most favorable. Bids shall be in a sealed envelope, clearly marked “Winter Sand Bid.” Bids and material samples must be delivered to the Town Office by 5 PM on October 7, 2026.
