AI Contract Overview
The USDOT Roadway Safety Innovation Expo is a one-day, immersive event hosted at the USDOT Headquarters in Washington, D.C., designed to showcase cutting-edge roadway safety technologies through interactive demonstrations and hands-on simulators. The event targets a wide audience including state and local transportation leaders, Members of Congress, industry stakeholders, safety advocates, students, and media to raise public awareness of innovations that reduce fatal and severe injury crashes. Participation is non-funded and entirely at the expense of the exhibiting entity, which must independently manage all aspects of equipment transportation, drayage, assembly, and breakdown. Space is limited, and submissions are evaluated based on alignment with priority safety areas such as impaired driving detection, pedestrian and cyclist safety, nighttime visibility, intersection technologies, railroad crossing safety, and detection of hazardous materials, among others. Preference is given to technologies manufactured in the United States, though no government endorsement is implied by selection. Proposals must be submitted as a Statement of Interest no later than 5:00 PM ET on Friday, June 12, 2026, via email to usdot-safety-expo@dot.gov with the required subject line and addressed to Hillary Isebrands. Submissions are limited to two pages of technical description, including organization profile, user experience details, logistical requirements such as power and space preferences, and alignment with USDOT’s safety mission, plus up to two additional pages of supporting imagery. Incomplete submissions will not be supplemented, and applicants risk non-selection if criteria are not met. The USDOT review panel assesses proposals based on safety impact, interactivity, innovativeness, scalability, cost-effectiveness, and theme alignment, and may contact applicants for clarification. Questions must be submitted by June 8, 2026, and all demonstrations must comply with USDOT security protocols, details of which will be provided after selection. Participation does not guarantee inclusion, and selection is solely at USDOT’s discretion based on available space and resources.
