Full Description
The scope of work provides for upgrading the HVAC system and electrical infrastructure at Anderson Hall. Anderson Hall was originally constructed with a two-pipe heating-only ventilation system. In subsequent years, modifications were made to add some air conditioning; however, these upgrades are inconsistent, inefficient, and in need of significant upgrades to meet the current and future needs of this heavily occupied academic building. The natatorium space was closed in fall of 2024, and future use is unknown, therefore systems upgrade for this space is to be excluded from the scope. In addition to the HVAC, the electrical infrastructure of the building has not had any significant upgrades since the original construction and has seen severe deterioration over the years and needs upgrade due to water damage and age. The scope for the project will be to upgrade the electrical infrastructure in the building, including increasing service capacity to accommodate current and anticipated future electrical needs, along with upgrading HVAC systems in the building to provide heating and cooling throughout. The NIU would like to explore geothermal HVAC options, taking into account the capacity of the campus chilled water loop. The selected A/E will be required to consult with the NIU on appropriate upgrades and systems appropriate for the building function and campus integration.
