Calabazas Creek Bank Rehabilitation Project

The Calabazas Creek Bank Rehabilitation Project, managed by Valley Water and approved by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on July 17, 2025, involves Major Amendment 3 to Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-SCL-14915-R3. Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, the project focuses on repairing failures and scour holes at project sites 1, 2, and 9 caused by high flows during 2024/2025. The work is located along 3,000 linear feet of Calabazas Creek in Cupertino, California, extending from Miller Avenue to Bollinger Road. The scope of work includes the removal of failed infrastructure and the placement of grouted and grouted riprap, resulting in a new impact area of 1,700 square feet. To offset these impacts, the applicant will provide compensatory mitigation by installing new riparian restoration plantings across an additional 1,700 square feet. The project is subject to a Mitigation Reporting or Monitoring Plan adopted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and it has been determined that the work will not have a significant environmental effect within the agency's jurisdiction.
