The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has planned to modify an existing contract with Compro Computer Services, Inc. to extend support for the replacement computer hardware and software system used in the Babcock and Wilcox Nuclear Power Plant Simulator. Originally established to provide a comprehensive computer system upgrade, the contract's performance period, which began on September 29, 2006, will now be extended by an additional four months beyond the initial five-year term, expiring on January 24, 2012. This extension is planned as a noncompetitive, no-cost modification negotiated solely with Compro Computer Services, Inc., based in Melbourne, Florida, thereby emphasizing continuity and specialized expertise in maintaining the simulator system. The government has issued a notice of intent for this contract modification, clarifying that it is not a solicitation or a request for quotes. Interested parties wishing to demonstrate capability must submit a detailed written capability statement within ten calendar days of the announcement, containing sufficient technical information to establish their bona fide ability to meet the requirement. Only written submissions are considered valid, with telephonic or insufficient responses being disregarded. This contract falls under NAICS code 811212, involving maintenance and support services for technical systems critical to nuclear power plant simulator operations. The point of contact for this effort is Jeffrey R. Mitchell, reachable by phone or email for further inquiries.
