Summary - This design effort will enable the Keyport Innovation Center (KIC) to be relocated to B12 Rm 141, a much larger and versatile space. This move will eliminate issues such as space constraint, accessibility, and allow room for growth that are currently problematic in their existing space. This project will be NISE funded with Design-Bid-Build (DBB) effort planned to begin in FY24 design and construction programmed for FY25. A. Architectural Considerations 1. Work stations for KIC Lab personnel – quantity to be identified 2. Restrooms – Men’s and Woman’s 3. Wash down sink with tempered water 4. Large Entry to be able to move equipment in and out of the KIC (60”x84”) 5. Storage areas: a. Equipment not in use b. Materials c. Hazmat and Chem lockers d. Lithium Battery Locker e. Lockable Storage space for materials and equipment f. Miscellaneous Storage g. Lockers for Projects 6. Isolate space from the rest of the building to be able to secure and maintain ventilation control. 7. Sound dampening to prevent Echo 8. Collaboration Suite with configurable tables and chairs 9. Solid floor for easy cleaning 10. Waste Collection area: Solid and Water/Liquid waste 11. Emergency Eyewash Station 12. “Hotel” locations for users (with power and network) B. HVAC/Mechanical Considerations 1. Comfort heating and cooling with Humidity Control 2. Adequate Ventilation for 3d printing resin and resin cleaning products 3. Specialty ventilation: laser engraver, soldering and electrical test benches 4. Vacuum System for CNC/Milling 5. Supply/waste/Vent for restrooms and wash sink 6. Available Compressed Air - LP C.
