DELIVERABLE: CAT2, DB-IH PSC CODE: C1EC – ARCHITECT AND ENGINEERING-CONSTRUCTION, OTHER INDUSTRIAL FACILITES UNIFORMAT MASTER SYSYTEM: D40 – FIRE PROTECTION REQUESTED SCHEDULE: DESIGN FY24 Q4 – CONSTRUCTION FY25 Q4 LOCATION: PMPG STA, BELOW DECK, BLDG. 7420, NBK-BANGOR 1391 REQUIRED: YES FOR CONSTRUCTION PACKAGE REQUIREMENT: This Service Request tasking is to design a fire protection system for the Bangor Dry-dock, Pump-well, B7424, to include UFC 3-600-1 compliant sprinkler systems, alarm systems, and smoke evacuation systems in the Pump-well as per recommende4d within the listed survey report referenced below. Design shall also include structural modifications and meet emergency egress requirements. It is expected that these designs will support follow-on Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization Program Projects, tentatively planned for FY25 at the earliest. BACKGROUND: The April 2021 PSNS&IMF Fire Protection Engineering Surveys Report, Trident Refit Facility, Bangor, identified fire protection deficiencies in the Bangor Dry-dock Pump-well, B7424. The Pump-well is classified as multi-story below-grade building requiring fire protection. The Pump-well is a special purpose industrial occupancy and is not equipped with fire sprinkler, fire alarm or smoke exhaust systems. The building houses the main dewatering pumps, drainage pumps, controls and electrical substations that are essential for dry-dock operations and lack emergency occupant egress openings.
