Hidden Falls Regional Park Trails Expansion Project Final SEIR

The Sierra Nevada Conservancy is providing funding to the Placer County Division of Parks, Trails, and Open Space to support Phase Two of the Hidden Falls Regional Park Trails Expansion Project, specifically the construction of a 3-mile connectivity trail linking the existing 1,200-acre Hidden Falls Regional Park in Auburn with the newly acquired expansion area managed by the Placer County Land Trust. The project includes building natural surface multi-use trails, three bridges measuring 21 to 26 feet in length, and associated amenities such as interpretive panels, benches, picnic tables, and a gate to improve public access and recreational opportunities. Environmental review for the project has been completed through a certified Environmental Impact Report from January 2010, a subsequent EIR certified in March 2021, and an addendum approved in October 2023, all of which have been reviewed by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy. Despite this, the Conservancy has independently concluded that the project will result in significant adverse environmental impacts but will proceed in full compliance with all conditions and mitigation measures outlined in the approved environmental documentation. Work will be executed under the oversight of Placer County to ensure adherence to the established environmental requirements.
