AI Contract Overview
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is offering grants for Core Centers of Transformative Science aimed at advancing research related to substance use, addiction, and HIV. These Centers are designed to unite investigators currently funded by NIH or other sources to enhance and expand ongoing research, focusing on transformative scientific progress rather than incremental advances. Each Center is expected to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, provide administrative and research support, and foster an innovative and rigorous research environment that encourages creative directions within the field. Applicants are encouraged to propose a single Center that integrates and promotes research across funded projects aligned with the Center's theme. The Centers may offer a variety of shared resources, such as specialized imaging or small-molecule drug chemistry support, to serve the broader research community. A key priority is to support new and early-career investigators by providing research opportunities and facilitating collaborations. Additionally, the Centers should promote data sharing and dissemination of research findings to maximize scientific impact in line with NIDA’s goals. The program is supported under specific grant authorities and is part of the Department of Health and Human Services, with further information available through NIDA’s referral official.

Full Description
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) seeks to advance its mission by supporting Core Center of Transformative Science Grants. These Centers will bring together investigators currently funded by NIH or other Federal or non-Federal sources to enhance and extend existing research relevant to substance use, addiction, and HIV.
