Partnership with Common Fund Data Ecosystem Resources
Contract Overview
Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
The National Institutes of Health, through the Office of Strategic Coordination and the Common Fund, is seeking partnerships between Common Fund data programs and non-CF biomedical data resources to improve the reusability and integration of Common Fund datasets within broader biomedical data ecosystems. The initiative aims to advance the FAIR principles—Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable—by fostering collaborations that connect Common Fund data with established NIH resources such as the HEAL Data Ecosystem, BRAIN Initiative, Cancer Research Data Commons, ImmPort, TOPMed, the National Library of Medicine, and the Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center. These partnerships are intended to develop tools, infrastructure, or workflows that enhance data linkage, interoperability, and community access, thereby maximizing the scientific impact of Common Fund investments. This funding opportunity does not support clinical trials and is focused exclusively on non-research infrastructure activities that strengthen data ecosystem integration. The solicitation is a forecast posting with no formal application window yet open, but interested entities should prepare proposals that demonstrate clear collaboration plans with at least one eligible non-CF NIH data resource. Inquiries and correspondence should be directed to the Common Fund Data Ecosystem Program via the provided email address. The effort is part of a broader strategy to unify fragmented biomedical data assets and create a more cohesive, user-friendly landscape for data discovery and reuse across the research community.

Full Description
The NIH Office of Strategic Coordination (Common Fund) has generated many valuable and widely available datasets. The Common Fund Data Ecosystem is helping to ensure that all Common Fund (CF) data are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR). The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to announce the availability of funds for projects that involve collaboration between CF programs and a non-CF biomedical data resource or ecosystem to develop resources that will enhance reusability of Common Fund data and help to connect the Common Fund Data Ecosystem with other important biomedical data ecosystems and resources. Examples of other NIH data resources and ecosystems that could be included in this partnership effort include, but are not limited to, the Helping to End Addition Long-term (HEAL) Data Ecosystem, Brain Research Through Advancing Innovation Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative, Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC), ImmPort Shared Data, Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed), the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the National Library of Medicine research resources, and the Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center (MIDRC). Clinical trials will not be accepted through this NOFO.
