The project will provide increased reliability, resiliency, and capacity to the existing electric and water utility systems primarily responsible for the protection of nuclear-powered submarines and nuclear support facilities at Portsmouth Navy Shipyard (PNSY). Electrical: Provides modifications to the commercial power supply provided by Central Maine Power (CMP) to PNSY that includes utility modifications, a rebuild of the existing transmission line, and a second transmission line to increase commercial power capacity, redundancy, and resiliency.At PNSY, provides upgrades and modifications to shipyard power distribution, energy storage, and onsite generation to increase capacity, capability, and resiliency of the microgrid. Water: Provides modifications to the commercial water utility supply provided Kittery Water District (KWD) to PNSY that includes increase the water production at the Water Treatment Plant from 5 MGD to 7 MGD and improvements to the distribution lines to accommodate the increased flows to PNSY.At PNSY, provides two new water connections from KWD to PNSY for the additional water capacity to meet 2035 requirements. The new water lines will provide increased reliability in-water supply to the installation and increases on-yard storage capability by providing a new 2.5MG water storage tower.
