Oregon State University is seeking a contractor to provide a roof for the Radiation Center. Contractor is to provide a 15 years extended roof life with a target of a 40 year life expectancy. The new roof system will follow OSU Design and Construction standards, provide an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) fire rated 90 mils minimum thickness, with 145 mils preferred FLEECEBACK style ONLY, in largest sheets possible. The Radiation Center roof will necessitate a new roof overlay, due to complexities with flashing details, a roof removal and replacement with new insulation will be cost prohibitive. The project scope will include removal of the current roof rock ballast, and 1/4-5/8” of new sub deck material over the existing roof and application of a new roof system. Safety guardrails at the roof perimeter per the OSU Design & Construction Standards should be considered but discussion with Facilities Services indicates that these may not be necessary for budgetary considerations, at this point in the project please plan for and budget only for incorporation of Roof Tie off points for both fall and swing protection, with a preference for incorporation into existing vertical parapets.
