San Bernadino 1B - AT&T Project

Frontier plans to deploy 297.62 miles of new fiber-optic cable to deliver high-speed internet access to unserved and underserved populations in San Bernardino County, with a focus on areas near Lucerne Valley. The project will primarily follow local roadways, with some segments running along or adjacent to State Routes 18 and 247, utilizing existing infrastructure wherever possible and supplementing it with new underground conduit or aerial installations. New construction will be confined to existing rights-of-way and utility easements in developed areas to minimize environmental impact and avoid disruptive ground disturbance. Underground conduit will typically be installed at depths between 18 and 48 inches using bore, trench, or plow methods in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, with deeper installations required in areas where existing utilities necessitate rerouting. The initiative is part of a broader effort to expand broadband access and is being managed under the oversight of the California Public Utilities Commission, with Andrew Chan serving as the primary point of contact for CEQA-related matters.
