Single Source: Coordinating Center (CC) for the Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) Consortium (U24 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) plans to continue funding the Coordinating Center (CC) for the Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) Consortium, which plays a central role in coordinating comprehensive research efforts related to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and mechanisms of resistance for SCLC. The CC's responsibilities include managing administrative tasks, centralized databases, tissue banking, a virtual biospecimen resource, biostatistics and bioinformatics support, maintaining in vivo and in vitro model repositories, and managing communications and website operations for the Consortium. Established following the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act, the Consortium has driven significant progress in understanding SCLC's molecular characteristics, tumor heterogeneity, immune evasion, biomarker development, and in translating therapeutic strategies to clinical practice. This upcoming cooperative agreement, anticipated as a five-year funding period, will support the continuation and expansion of these critical resources and collaborative activities. The current CC, based at Sloan Kettering with collaborative institutions, organizes scientific meetings, supports early-career investigators, and provides valuable datasets and biological models to the research community. The funding opportunity will be a single-source solicitation, inviting applications from eligible organizations, with selection based on rigorous peer review consistent with NIH standards. This ongoing support aims to sustain the Consortium’s role as a vital hub for advancing SCLC research and improving patient outcomes.
