1900 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063 – Affordable Housing Site Substitution and Spring Street Vacation

The City Council of Redwood City has approved a significant land use adjustment for the 1900 Broadway development project, replacing the originally designated affordable housing site at 847 Woodside Road with a new location at 705 Veterans Boulevard. This substitution ensures the affordable housing component remains a central part of the broader development while accommodating logistical or planning considerations tied to the primary site. Concurrently, the Council authorized the general vacation of a segment of public right-of-way along Spring Street and a small, remnant City-owned parklet at the northeastern corner of Marshall and Walnut Streets, commonly referred to as the Spring Street Segment. This vacation clears the way for the developer to integrate these parcels into the project footprint, streamlining construction and land use efficiency. To formalize the transfer, the Council also approved a Purchase and Sale Agreement that permits the City to sell the vacated Spring Street Segment to the 1900 Broadway developer, ensuring legal and financial clarity around the transaction. These actions collectively support the advancement of the 1900 Broadway project by repositioning key components and consolidating land parcels under private control while maintaining the public commitment to affordable housing.
