The Department of Defense is offering a series of demonstrations for its Defense Travel System (DTS) aimed at current Travel Management Service providers, potential proposers for upcoming DTS solicitations, and Global Distribution System (GDS) providers. These demonstrations are intended to showcase the DTS concept and functionality, with a focus on validating the transfer of travel requests from DTS to various GDS platforms. Scheduled sessions will be held at TRW Inc. in Virginia on specified dates in April, June, and July 2002. Participation is open to large and small businesses, and interested parties must request attendance via email, selecting preferred dates. Additionally, the DoD has released a draft Statement of Work for Travel Management Services, which outlines requirements for comprehensive travel management support across 18 CONUS travel areas, some of which are set aside for small business participation. Multiple contracts are expected, potentially awarding one per travel area or small business set-aside. The government invites industry feedback through voluntary information exchange sessions in May 2002 and written comments following the format provided online. Similarly, GDS providers are invited to present proposed solutions addressing business and technical integration aspects with DTS during sessions in June 2002. All scheduling requests and inquiries are handled electronically, with support from the CECOM Acquisition Center-Washington overseeing the acquisition process.
