GEORGIANA SLOUGH EROSION CONTROL AND HABITAT ENHANCEMENT PROJECT

The Brannan-Andrus Levee Maintenance District is implementing the Georgiana Slough Erosion Control and Habitat Enhancement Project to address upper slope erosion and significant lower slope undercutting along the right bank levee of Georgiana Slough on Lower Andrus Island in Sacramento County. The project scope involves four primary phases: mobilization, site preparation, levee slope and bench construction, and site demobilization. Key technical requirements include the placement of quarry stone rip rap at the toe of the levee to serve as a foundational base for a habitat bench. All fill and aggregate base materials must be roller compacted to a relative compaction of at least 95 percent per ASTM D1557-91 standards. The project is supported by a 20-year General Lease for Public Agency Use issued by the State Lands Commission, effective through November 6, 2045. Environmental compliance is managed through a Mitigated Negative Declaration and a Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program, with a recent addendum confirming that modifications to construction sequencing and material handling do not create new significant environmental effects. The work is located on sovereign land near the confluence of the Mokelumne River, specifically adjacent to Assessor's Parcel Numbers 156-0080-042 and 156-0090-001.
