Plumas County OHV Projet

The Plumas County OHV Project involves ground operations maintenance for approximately 79 miles of motorized trails, ATV routes, and 4x4 roads, as well as a 10-acre motocross track with a staging area. The work is located within the Plumas National Forest across the Mt. Hough, Beckworth, and Feather River Ranger Districts in California. Key activities include brushing, grooming, the installation of vehicle barriers and signs to prevent off-trail use, and tread armoring using native rock to prevent soil loss. Specialized equipment such as mini excavators, Griphoists, and rock drills are required for these operations. The project is administered by the Plumas County Facility Services Department in partnership with the Forest Service and Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, with maintenance performed by SBTS under contract. All work must adhere to Forest Service EM-7720-103 specifications and the minimum design parameter guidelines for motorized trails found in Forest Service Handbook FSH 2309.18. Additionally, routine soil monitoring must comply with 2008 Soil Standards. Project monitoring and oversight are conducted jointly by the Plumas National Forest and the Plumas County Facility Services Department.
