Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area General Plan

The California Department of Parks and Recreation has received an extension of the Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number SAC-17340-R2 from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, authorizing continued work under section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code. This extension supports ongoing stream rehabilitation efforts within Coyote Gulch as part of an 18.5-acre erosion control and restoration project at the Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area. Activities include restoring the stream channel to its original configuration, installing a vegetated bioswale to enhance natural water flow and filtration, constructing designated culvert crossings to facilitate safe and controlled passage, and erecting fencing to prevent unauthorized vehicular access and protect the restored habitat. The project is part of the broader Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area General Plan and is being managed by the Department of Parks and Recreation, with primary coordination handled by Project Proponent Brian Dewey and oversight from Senior Environmental Scientist Harvey Tran of the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The extension ensures compliance with environmental regulations while enabling ecologically sensitive restoration work to proceed without interruption, balancing recreational use with long-term habitat conservation. No new solicitation or competitive bidding is required under this authorization, as the work continues under the existing agreement framework.
