FY48 CIFI Recapitalization, Bldg. 7201, NBK-Bangor: PROJECT: Project restores, reconfigures and upgrades mechanical, electrical, structural and life safety systems to such a condition that Building 7201, Nuclear Repair Facility, may effectively be used for its designated functional purpose. Scope includes but is not limited to roof replacement, interior reconfigurations, life safety, egress and energy along with restrooms and lighting upgrades. Minor construction provides for new exterior Envelope to house relocated mechanical plenums. REQUIREMENT: Providing Adequate, properly configured and reliable Controlled Industrial Facilities CIF) are critical in direct support to all nuclear operations and functions supporting Fleet operations and schedules across the Sub Base Bangor mission. CURRENT SITUATION: The existing structural, mechanical, and electrical and safety systems which were installed at the time of building construction in 1978 are at the end of their serviceable life. The majority portion of the facility systems have deteriorated well beyond the maintenance and sustainment model of minor repair now requiring restoration. The facility is continually challenged to maintain current nuclear and energy standards affecting nuclear production capabilities.
