Soda Springs Ranch Open Space Preserve

The City of Cloverdale is moving forward with the Soda Springs Ranch Open Space Preserve project, which involves annexing 208.72 acres into the city and establishing a conservation easement to permanently protect the land for open space and light recreational use, with a pre-zoning designation of Conservation. The project will introduce three multiuse trails totaling 0.94 miles for pedestrian and bicycle access, eleven picnic sites, and a 2,000 square foot parking area at the proposed entrance near West 2nd Street and Foothill Boulevard. Additional improvements include minor fencing, signage, roadway and curbside work, and revegetation efforts along with ongoing maintenance of an existing fuel break for fire safety. To prepare the site, eight underutilized roads and trails will be closed and removed along with their associated infrastructure, an open-walled shed, a trailer, and two culverts will be demolished, and select vegetation will be cleared to support annual fire safety protocols. The existing storm drainage system, which currently relies on Low Impact Development elements like culverts and ditches, will be modified to further reduce peak runoff and minimize soil erosion.
