Bethel Island Drainage and Flooding Remediation Mitigation Project

The Bethel Island Drainage and Flooding Remediation Mitigation Project, identified by Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-CCA-58058-R3, is an environmental project approved by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife on September 19, 2025. The project is led by the Bethel Island Municipal Improvements District and is located at Taylor Slough in Contra Costa County, California. The scope of work is limited to one-time occurrences of vegetation clearing and removal, culvert repair and drainage channel reconstruction and maintenance, sediment and debris removal including the clearing of blocked inlets, and the upgrade of a secondary pump station. The project was approved under the determination that it will not significantly affect the environment within the jurisdiction of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, provided that specific mitigation measures are implemented. These measures are a condition of approval and are governed by an adopted Mitigation Reporting or Monitoring Plan and a Mitigated Negative Declaration.
