The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-SON-50608-R3), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, to the project Applicant, Sonoma Valley County Sanitation District. The project is limited to permanent repairs along Kohler and Sonoma creeks to protect Sonoma Valley County Sanitation District (SVCSD) sanitary sewer pipelines that cross Kohler and Sonoma Creeks, using a combination of rock slope protection, fabric reinforced fill structures (FREFs) built with biodegradable fabrics, log rootwad revetments, brush mattresses, and native vegetation. In addition, the pipeline across Sonoma Creek will be armored in its current location with large boulders. The Project will also include revegetation with native plants and installation of habitat improvement elements for aquatic species in Sonoma Creek. In total, the project will result in approximately 20 linear feet (0.01 acres) of permanent impact and approximately 290 linear feet (0.35 acres) of temporary impact to open water habitat, as well as approximately 305 linear feet (0.09 acres) of temporary impact to riparian habitat. Of the 305 linear feet (0.09 acres), 210 linear feet (0.04 acres) includes California freshwater shrimp (Syncaris pacifica) habitat above the wetted potion of Sonoma Creek. The project will also result in the removal of two riparian trees. Access and staging will occur via an existing developed driveway and residential parking area.
