Perform the 5-year Ultrasonic Testing (UT) on DD2 Caisson 2R plating in accordance with MIL-STD-1625D. The term caisson plating includes the entire hull, top deck, machinery deck, internal strength decks, bulkheads and breast hooks. Ultrasonic testing shall be performed at different location from previous inspections and a minimum 8-foot grid pattern is to be utilized. Additional measurements shall be taken to identify the full extent of unacceptable plating in areas found to have excessive wastage or areas that are suspected to be deficient by visual inspection. Submit AutoCAD drawings to depict the actual condition of the caisson and to indicate the locations of ultrasonic tests. Submit inspection reports with sketches and tables indicating original thickness of members, field ultrasonic readings, and percent loss of members. The report shall include the safety factor (referenced to yield or buckling stress) for plating that is corroded beyond the acceptable wastage. Any areas in need of repair will include weld repairs and replacement of structural steel members.
