DELIVERABLE: CAT-2, IH DB, TO REQUESTED SCHEDULE: FY2024, SW LOCATION: Pumpwell 4, BREMER-704, PSNS 1391: Yes 1. REQUIREMENT: Repair various deficiencies found during MDP overhaul. Contract# N44255-17-D-4015, RFI 17. 1. Replace pump bearing trough drain system with new piping. RFI NOTE: The pump bearing trough drain, which drains the cooling water from around the upper pump bearing, is completely clogged and will not drain. This pipe is an iron pipe that has internal build up from years of corrosion and is beyond repair. This issue was brought to our attention by the pump well operator and we field verified this issue. The current project scope of work has us reusing the trough drain piping. See Sheet M-501, Detail A4, Note 2 to identify location of trough drain. The complete pipeline is not shown on the drawings, but it runs the length of the pump well to pick up all 3 pumps and dump into the wet well. We recommend replacing this piping with new. Requires further guidance from the DOR. This would be additional work and would result in additional costs and schedule impact. 2. Replace pump vent system with new piping. RFI NOTE: The pump vent piping, which allows air to be vented out of the pump, is completely clogged and will not drain. The section of brass piping from the pump to the horizontal run is in good condition, but the iron pipe horizontal run has internal build up from years of corrosion and is beyond repair. This issue was brought to our attention by the pump well operator and we field verified this issue. The current project scope of work has us replacing only the vertical section from the pump to the horizontal run, but not the horizontal section of piping. See Sheet M-501, Detail A4, Note 4 to identify location of vent. The complete pipeline is not shown on the drawings, ... NOTE: description has been truncated, please see Project Note for full description.
