PP18-103 Amendment to the Mineta San Jose International Airport Master Plan

The City of San Jose is implementing the Sky Harbour Hangar Expansion Project at the San Jose Mineta International Airport, located at 1210 Aviation Avenue. This project involves a Special Use Permit to expand general aviation facilities on a 7.0-acre site to meet the demand for corporate jet aircraft services. The scope of work includes the construction of a new 28,000-square-foot aircraft hangar with a height of approximately 39 feet, 235 square feet of office space, and new concrete ramp paving for aircraft parking. Additionally, the existing hangar will be modified to relocate the hangar door from the south to the east elevation. The project has undergone extensive environmental and regulatory review, including Phase I and Phase II subsurface investigations to assess potential contamination. It complies with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), with a Notice of Determination issued in July 2026 confirming that no new significant environmental impacts were identified. The FAA provided a final determination on February 14, 2025, regarding the hangar expansion and apron replacement, requiring adherence to FAA Advisory Circular 150/5370-2 for operational safety during construction. Coordination with the Airport Manager and Air Traffic Control Tower is required to ensure the safety of navigable airspace and ground property.
