726-6BB-1135 - Conduit Installation Project

Caltrans has approved an encroachment permit for American Dark Fiber LLC to conduct utility installation work along State Route 1 between postmiles 23.92 and 24.32 in Manhattan Beach and El Segundo, within Los Angeles County. The project involves placing temporary traffic control devices and signage, installing 2,420 feet of underground high-density polyethylene conduit with embedded fiber optic cable, and constructing six 3-feet by 5-feet vaults within the existing Caltrans right-of-way. Excavation will be limited to a maximum depth of 48 inches, with an average width of 12 inches and a total length of 2,420 feet, including 52 feet of open trenching at a width of 2 feet. Additionally, six horizontal directional drill bore pits, each measuring 6 feet by 4 feet and 4 feet deep, will be created to facilitate the conduit installation without disrupting surface infrastructure. No relocation of public utilities or acquisition of new right-of-way is required for this work. The project is authorized under permit number 726-6BB-1135, with all activities conducted in compliance with Caltrans District 7 regulations.
