OP27DSE002 - Pile Burn – Slocan Complex

This contract involves the controlled burning of 62 slash piles created during wildfire rehabilitation efforts following the 2024 Slocan Wildfires. The project site is primarily located along a 1.3-kilometer deactivated road segment associated with the N51069 Ponderosa Fire. Each slash pile measures approximately 3 meters in each dimension and is positioned centrally along the road, initially limiting access to foot traffic until some piles are burned. As the burn progresses, accessibility improves, permitting ATV travel for about 840 meters before a recontoured section of the road again restricts access to foot traffic only. The contract mandates that all necessary fire mitigation and suppression equipment must be present on site throughout the operation. The timing of the burning activity must comply with the Open Burning Smoke Control Regulations to minimize smoke impacts.
