The scope of work is to connect the existing 800 KW SPIDERS generator currently located at the JBPHH Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP, formerly Fort Kamehameha WWTP) to emergency power the JBPHH WWTP Effluent Pump Station (EPS). The Effluent Pump Station (EPS) pressurizes the outfall for the disposal of plant effluent. The EPS estimated electrical load is about 600 KW, so it is assumed that the SPIDERS generator can support operation of the EPS. It is noted that the WWTP primary power to the switchgear that powers the EPS is provided by two 11.5 KV feeders from Mamala Substation and an on-site step-down transformer (Xfmr 1701). If primary power should fail (Basewide power outage), then currently the existing 1600 KW generator in Bldg 1699 activates (via an automatic transfer switch or ATS); note that the 1600 KW generator powers the EPS and other important WWTP processes, such as aeration blowers, recirculation pumps, etc., and thus has a rating higher than 600 KW. Should this 1600 KW generator or its ATS fail, then installation of the 800 KW SPIDERS generator could provide a third backup power source for the EPS; by keeping the EPS running, and since wastewater flows by gravity from the WWTP Headworks (front) to the EPS (no pumping until the wastewater reaches the EPS), only a running EPS is needed to prevent a spill (which is very important from a WWTP NPDES Discharge Permit compliance standpoint). As a part of this project, and sanctioned by Utilities Management (UM), the remaining portion of the SPIDERS project can be and should be removed (demolished); it is no longer used, such as the flow batteries that are part of the SPIDERS microgrid. t should also be noted that the 800 KW SPIDERS generator also currently provides backup power to switchgear located in Bldg 1351; the switchgear in Bldg 1351 powers ...
