AI-powered FAR Navigator

Search and read the Federal Acquisition Regulation with plain-language summaries, the official text, source links, and key terms.

The free CLEATUS FAR Navigator helps you search, read, and understand the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Each page puts a plain-language summary next to the official text. Artificial intelligence (AI) writes the summaries. You do not need an account.

Find a FAR section

  1. Open the FAR Navigator.
  2. Type a FAR number, a term, or a topic in Search FAR in the left sidebar. Type at least two characters.
  3. Or browse the parts in the left sidebar.
  4. Open a part, then a subpart, a section, or a clause.

Read a FAR page

  • Title and key takeaway: each page shows the FAR number and title. Many pages also show a one-sentence takeaway.
  • Source link: a page with matching text on acquisition.gov shows a Source link under the title. Click it to read the official text there.
  • Summary and Official FAR tabs: read the plain-language summary, or switch to the official regulation text.
  • Subparts, Sections, or Subsections: the list of items under the current page.
  • Previous and next buttons: at the bottom of the page, go to the previous or next item in order. Use them to read a subpart from start to end.

Use the side panel

The right side panel has collapsible sections. Each section shows only when the page has content for it.

  • Applicability: the cases where the section applies.
  • Compliance: a checklist of the actions that the section requires.
  • Key Terms: short definitions of the terms that the section uses.
  • Cross References: links to related FAR sections.
  • Other References: links to related outside sources.

Cite the official text:

The summaries help you understand a section. In a proposal or a compliance matrix, always cite the official FAR text. Use the Source link to check it on acquisition.gov.
